Manu Ginobili has Flopped Too Far

November 21st, 2005 by actionBERG

Just to preface this rant, I am not what you would call a fan of Manu Ginobili. In fact, he is probably my most hated player since Karl Malone. I even dislike Manu more than Doug Christie, which for me is saying a lot.

So the main thing that bothers me about Manu is the fact that everytime he has the ball, he feels that he needs to drive wrecklessly to the basket, tuck the ball in his left hand like a football, and then when he gets close, flail around crazily and get the foul call. This seriously takes no skill what-so-ever. (Note to Manu: this is the NBA, not the World Cup)

And now Manu has just taken this whole out-of-control flopping to sadly, a level I knew it would eventually go. In Saturday’s game against the Phoenix Suns, Manu pulled his flop move for the bazillionth time, and injured guard Leandro Barbosa in the process. Now Barbosa will be out 1-3 weeks and the Suns are out of back-up point guard for Steve Nash. Outrage, I tell you, outrage!

“Ginobili always likes to flop,” Barbosa told The Arizona Republic. “Nobody even touched him.

“He jost flopped. That’s why I feel sad to hurt myself like that,” he added. “I wish I could have hurt myself in another way.”

I think the league needs to step-up and take control of this situation and implement a technical flop foul. Every time Manu tries this move, T him up and give the ball to the other team. I don’t want the NBA turning into a soccer flop fest.

*NOTE: Please understand that there is some sarcasm in this rant. Please don’t take everything I say too seriously. I do really hate Manu though.
